The Slush Pile, or getting those two hours back

Neil Gaiman decided he didn’t want to be a movie critic for the rest of his life when, after watching a particular assignment, he realized he would never get those two hours back. I could spend my time spinning some albums in the hope that something clicks, but I kind of don’t want to give away those stretches of 30 to 50 minutes either.

So onto the slush pile these titles go ….

Boom Boom Satellites, Exposed

These guys have their sound down: hard drum beats + loud guitars + crazy effects + frenzied singing. If you liked it the last time, I’ll bet you’ll like it this time as well.

L’Arc~en~Ciel, KISS

I have my playlist arranged alphabetical by initial letter, so I had Kylie Minogue’s X placed right before L’Arc~en~Ciel’s KISS. The bonus track from X segues very, very well with the opening of KISS. That’s all I really remember about this album.

Molotov, Eternamiente

I didn’t know Molotov psyched out their fans by announcing they were breaking up — which they kind of did. Each member released a solo EP in the summer of 2007, and all four EPs were collected on Eternamiente. I didn’t realize it was a compilation, so I was rather disappointed to hear something so scattered, not realizing it pretty much was. If that exercise proved anything, it’s the sum is greater than the parts. Last I read in Billboard, Molotov has reunited to work on an album proper.

Sigur Rós, Hvarf/Heim

Fairly incidental.
