One-sentence reviews: On the playlist, Busted a/c makes me cranky Edition
I’m waiting impatiently for the management office of my apartment complex to open so I can tell them to fix the air conditioning unit that miraculously busted on Tuesday night, right before the July 4 holiday. So I’m writing this entry to kill some time.
P.S. How do you like the slight remodeling of the site? I’ve had that previous layout since 2005, so I decided to move around the furniture, as it were.
- bloodthirsty butchers, Guitarist wo Korosanaide An odd mix of the band’s early hard work and sunny backing vocals from Tabuchi Hisako.
- George Crumb, Variazioni / Echoes of Time and the River Till now, I’ve heard Crumb’s timbres only in chamber music settings, but they work just as well in an orchestral setting.
- Hem, Home Again, Home Again I wish some of these track had shown up on Funnel Cloud. (Thank you, Liberty Mutual commericals!)
- Ivri Lider, Yoter Tov Klum Me’kimat Still reminiscent of pre-English Shakira.
- LOVE PSYCHEDELICO, Golden Grapefruit Did they always sound like Sheryl Crow, or is this a new development? (And what’s with all the gold? Golden green? Golden Tears?)
- LOVES., Lucky Me Higurashi Aiha’s second band goes Sleater-Kinney/White Stripes and foregoes the bass guitar.
- Onitsuka Chihiro, "everyhome" Don’t call it a comeback?
- PANICSMILE, EATS TOKYO ALIVE I’ll come back to this when I’m feeling more angular.
- PE’Z, Okite Neru -FUNNY DAY & HARD NIGHT- You hear one PE’Z album, etc., etc. This one is a double album.
- Quruli, Tanz Walzer Better than Nikki, but wow — do they sound like they’ve run out of steam.
- Sonic Youth, Daydream Nationa (Deluxe Edition) So far, I really like the remastering, but I haven’t made it to the second disc of extras.
- toddle, Dawn Praise the World Did Tabuchi Hisako improve as a singer, or did Yoshimura Hideki just lay down the processing effects a lot heavier?
- UA, Golden green Oh, UA, thank you for going to back to pop music!
- Zoobombs, B*B*B Since leaving the major labels, Zoobombs has gotten dirtier and dirtier.
